Battle Against Blemishes
Looking for
quick and easy acne home treatments?
Not only can they be less expensive than over-the-counter
products, but some find them to be more effective. In addition,
they're more eco-friendly -- you're saving both your skin and
the environment from harsh chemicals.
Below are some fast and simple ideas for dealing with
those nasty breakouts.
Many of these acne home treatments come from items in almost
any medicine cabinet:

These acne home treatments are made with ingredients you
probably already have in your kitchen:
- Honey. Honey also helps eliminate
bacteria. You can use it as a spot treatment or a mask. You
can also try mixing honey with an apple grated into a fine
pulp.
- Baking soda paste. Make a paste
using one part baking soda powder to two parts water. Put
the baking soda acne directly on the pimple and massage
gently for a few seconds. When dry, rinse it off.
- White Potatoes. Hold a slice on
your pimple for several minutes to reduce redness and
inflammation.
- Garlic. It won't make you the
life of the party, but rubbing garlic on your acne can
reduce swelling and fight harmful bacteria.
- Salt and Vinegar. Mixing a little
salt with some white vinegar can help resolve your acne.
Leave it on your face for about 30 minutes before rinsing.
Keep in mind though, that vinegar, like alcohol, can have a
drying effect.
- Cucumber. Make a cucumber paste
to use as a mask.
These acne home treatments take a little more time to
prepare, but you may find it worth the effort:
- Oatmeal. Cook some regular
oatmeal and apply it as a mask (after it's cooled, of
course). Let it dry then rinse. Oatmeal helps absorb
oiliness and unclog pores.
- Egg white, witch hazel, and lemon
juice. Mix a few drops of witch hazel and a
few drops of lemon juice with a beaten egg white. Apply to
your face and leave it on for about 15 minutes before
rinsing.
When rinsing acne home treatments off your face, remember to
use warm water (not hot) and dry your face by gently patting it
with a soft towel. You don't want to aggravate your skin and
make your acne worse by being overly aggressive.
Wondering which acne home treatments will work best for you? As
with many things, what works for one may not work for another.
Your best bet is to experiment with several to see which your
skin responds best to. You may find that a combination of
treatments is most effective.
